You heard me. Each leather has it's happy way it likes to get stretched...some warm water, some cool, some long soaks and some a quick rinse. It depends on the tanning, tumbling, wax content, color, etc etc to find the moment where it can be stretched fully without breaking the fibers or causing stains or losing the beautiful hand feel of good leather.
For the Maine Crema, I chatted with the tanners in their beautiful tannery in Tuscany to discuss the best way to work with this particular leather so we could mold it and avoid some of the issues we were getting. Loads of experiments transpired. Well, it turns out, it seems to be quite happy w steam!
